NewCareer.ca's Privacy Statement

Last updated: Nov 18,2003

Internet user privacy is very important to NewCareer.ca. The success of our business depends upon our ability to maintain the trust of our users. Below you will find information regarding NewCareer.ca's commitment to protect the privacy of users and to ensure the integrity of the Internet.

INFORMATION COLLECTED
Personally identifying information from users (employer/staffing agency, job seeker) is collected only when the user fills out the registration form or in other site locations when users knowingly submit such information to NewCareer.ca (for example, when they subscribe to the CareerMail, Newsletter, complete surveys etc.) on a voluntary basis.

We may also collect, or our content server will collect the URL you came from, IP address, domain types (e.g. .com or .org, etc.), your browser type, the country, province (states) and telephone area code where your server is located, the pages of our site that were viewed during a visit. (see TRAFFIC STATS)

HOW INFORMATION IS USED
If you have registered with NewCareer.ca services, the information collected is used to connect job seekers and employers/staffing agencies. NewCareer.ca guarantees not to sell or rent your personal/company information to others. In fact, we don't even display it without your permission. When posting jobs and resumes, we have an option for you to decide how much contact information you want to show.

If you subscribe to our CareerMail or ResumeMail, we will then use your email address to notify you regarding new jobs/resumes added daily, weekly or monthly, updates and services that we believe may be of interest to you.

We also use user information (such as email) we collect for the purposes of sending promotional information (monthly newsletter), enhancing the operation of our site, for statistical purposes and to administer our systems. You may choose to unsubscribe at any time.

Our systems protect personal information using an advanced firewall server technology and considering using SSL in the near future. All passwords are encrypted before being stored in our database, in other words, only you know your own password and nobody else does, not even NewCareer.ca. See Account Security

For online order security, see Online Order Security.

NOTE: Job seeker, please read more about how your resume will be used in our system below.

COOKIES
NewCareer.ca does not currently use cookies. In the near future, however, we will use cookies only to control the site poll system. Cookies are useful for enabling the browser to remember information specific to a given user. Your personal information will not be included in NewCareer.ca cookies.

TRAFFIC STATS
Like millions of other websites, our server collects each user's IP address to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personal information.

JOB SEEKER'S RESUME & PROFILE
Since NewCareer.ca is an online job portal, we allow job seekers to input their resume and contact information in our database so they can be searched and viewed by prospective employers/staffing agencies.

We use our best efforts and security system to grant access to these resumes and contact information only to prospective (paid) employers/staffing agencies. Once you enter your resume into our system, you also have a choice to hide your resume and contact information by checking the box provided in the resume form. That way employers/staffing agencies will never find your resume when scanning for resumes. However, you still can apply for a job online through our system.

As stated above, the resume and your contact information you enter into our database is strictly confidential and for prospective employers/stuffing agencies only, however, we are not responsible for the retention, use, or privacy of resumes in these situations:
  • if some third party posing as an employer/staffing agency gains database access and subsequently uses your resume for their own purposes.
  • if some other third party evades security measures and gains access to our data (your data).
  • if our database is being used without NewCareer.ca's permission or stolen.
  • if our server goes offline and loses all the data
  • if employers/staffing agencies who have access to the database may have retained a copy of your resume in their own files or databases.
You may remove your resume and contact information from our searchable databases at any time.

UPDATING INFORMATION
NewCareer.ca provides job seekers and employers/staffing agencies with the option of modifying or correcting their personal/company information at any time. To do so, simply log into your account, go to your company/personal profile, and you will find options for editing the information you have submitted. Upon deleting your account, we would like to be informed before taking any action.
